Olivia Loccisano is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and writer whose work focuses on transformations of the body through dark fantasy, body horror, and magical realism. Her narratives explore how women and girls navigate the world through their own imagination and rituals.
Her stop-motion film POCKET PRINCESS (2024), based on her short story of the same name published in Prometheus Dreaming (2021), was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the BAFTA-Qualifying British Urban Film Festival (BUFF) and the Chicago Horror Film Festival. The film continues its festival run and will play next at Fantaspoa, HARD:LINE, and Calgary Underground Film Festival,
Her debut short film, FIRST BLOOD (2023, on ALTER), premiered at Blood in the Snow and went to screen at Fantasia International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and Final Girls Berlin, among others. The film received critical acclaim for its exploration of menstruation and vampirism, winning the Jury Prize at Paris in the Dark Film Festival and being nominated for the Etheria Spirit Award at Nightmares Film Festival. FIRST BLOOD was developed from Olivia’s short script SIMONE (2022), which won Best Short Screenplay at the Renegade Film Festival.
Loccisano’s short screenplay BODY AND BLOOD (2022) received many accolades and high distinction from The Script Lab’s Screenwriting Contest, placing it on Coverfly’s “The Red List”. The script remains one of the top ranked scripts of all-time the platform.
Her poetry and short stories have appeared in Coffin Bell Journal, Button Eye Review, Pink Plastic House, and La Piccioletta Barca, among others. Her forthcoming chapbook FORBIDDEN NURSERY RHYMES FOR LITTLE GIRLS will be released by Dancing Girl Press (2025).
As a producer, Olivia is currently producing the short stop-motion horror film, ENCORE, directed by Catherine Hois
Loccisano’s work has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), Ontario Arts Council (OAC), Toronto Arts Council (TAC), and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).
